Description
Post-Revolutionary War legend that Oklahoma millionaire T.P. Gore buried about $400,000 in gold bars and coins on his 600-acre Gore Springs estate near Grenada Lake.
Historical Notes
After the Revolutionary War, wealthy T.P. Gore of Oklahoma purchased over 600 acres at Gore Springs in Mississippi and built a mansion. Without nearby banks, he allegedly buried approximately $400,000 in gold bars and coins on the property. Today only Gore's grave is said to remain at the mansion site near Grenada Lake — with folklore that the bullion may still lie nearby.
