Lost Treasure MS • Lafayette County County
Description
Chickasaw leader Chief Toby Tubby allegedly buried government gold and notes from 1835 land sales near the Tallahatchie River — a mysterious woman later hired diggers at his burial site then vanished.
Historical Notes
Chief Toby Tubby led a prosperous Chickasaw band in Lafayette County during early white settlement. In 1835 he received government notes and gold for selling thousands of acres.
