Adirondack legend of Moses Follensby burying $400,000 in gold and silver near his cabin at the north end of Follensby Pond southwest of Tupper Lake — one of the richest private-hoard tales in the mountains.
Historical Notes
Moses Follensby was an early Adirondack recluse who reportedly amassed a fortune in coin by the mid-1800s. Guides place the cache beside his cabin where a branch enters Follensby Pond, southwest of Tupper Lake in Franklin County. The pond and surrounding timberland remain among the most searched Adirondack treasure sites in compiled New York lists.
