French Payroll Cannon Dug Mountain

Lost Treasure NY • Hamilton County County
Description
Hamilton County Adirondack legend of a French military payroll hidden inside a cannon near Dug Mountain — a colonial-era cache tale in the central Adirondack wilderness.
Historical Notes
Dug Mountain rises in Hamilton County between Silver Brook and Hatchery Brook in the central Adirondacks. Compiled lore says French forces concealed a payroll inside a cannon rather than carry it through hostile territory. The same region holds legends of an English-operated lost silver mine near a notch between the two brooks.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
