Description
Municipal park along the San Gabriel River in Georgetown; springs and riverbanks used for recreation since the town's founding in 1848.
Historical Notes
The San Gabriel River and its springs attracted Tonkawa and Comanche bands before Anglo settlement. Georgetown's town square lies near the river; San Gabriel Park formalized public river access in the twentieth century. Fishing, picnicking, and festival grounds along the North Fork San Gabriel; central to Georgetown's identity as a river town.
