Mankin's Crossing — San Gabriel River

Water Locations TX • Williamson County County
Coordinates: 30.6178, -97.4156
Elevation: 0 ft
Description
Beloved low-water crossing and swimming hole on the San Gabriel River north of Georgetown — a longtime Central Texas summer tradition.
Historical Notes
Mankin's Crossing on the San Gabriel River has drawn swimmers and picnickers from Austin and Georgetown for generations. TPWD Magazine names it among the sweet spots left out of a top-ten list only because the list could not hold every great hole in Texas. The crossing sits in a rural Williamson County reach of the San Gabriel north of Georgetown. Expect informal parking, variable flow after drought, and no lifeguards. Respect private land along the river and pack out all trash.
