Latimer County lists credit a Choctaw man named Kunneotubby with concealing gold coins close to Wilburton. He died before disclosing the location, leaving the hoard in Choctaw Nation treasure lore. The story sits alongside Jesse James and Chief Black Face tales in the Sans Bois–Kiamichi treasure belt.
