William Coe Robber's Roost Treasure

Lost Treasure OK • Cimarron County County
Description
No Man's Land legend that Captain Bill Coe buried outlaw riches near his stone-walled Robber's Roost fortress above Kenton — including tales of $750,000 in Spanish gold hidden in Flag Springs Arroyo.
Historical Notes
Union veteran Cyrus "Bill" Coe led a rustling gang from a three-foot-thick rock headquarters on a ridge southwest of Kenton in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Cavalry cannon fire shattered the fortress in 1868; Coe was lynched in Pueblo, Colorado, before trial. Deathbed rumors from a gang member and Coe himself fueled searches across Black Mesa, Carrizozo Creek, and Blacksmith Canyon — none of the gold has been reported found.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
