Jesse James Robber's Cave Loot

Lost Treasure OK • Latimer County County
Description
Sanstone bluff legend that Jesse James buried gang loot near Robber's Cave five miles north of Wilburton — a Latimer County hideout thirty-five miles south of Younger's Bend on the Canadian River.
Historical Notes
Robbers Cave State Park preserves a remote cliff shelter long used by deserters and border raiders; park signage notes no documented gunfights occurred inside the cave. Jesse James visited Cherokee Nation ally Tom Starr's Younger's Bend allotment during and after the Civil War; treasure writers link rendezvous splits of plunder to the Wilburton bluffs. Frank James farmed near Fletcher in 1907 and searched Wichita–Keechi landmark trees for decades-old caches — keeping James–Younger Oklahoma treasure lore alive.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
