Dover Swiss Buried Treasure

Lost Treasure TN • Stewart County County
Description
Dover legend of a Swiss immigrant's buried chest of gold and silver coins concealed somewhere in the Cumberland River town below Fort Donelson.
Historical Notes
Dover, county seat of Stewart County, sits on the Cumberland River downstream from Fort Donelson. Regional treasure lists attribute a hidden chest of gold and silver to a Swiss settler who never reclaimed it. The story belongs to the same 1862 theater as Bear Springs and Carlisle — when Dover became a choke point for refugees and military traffic. No primary document confirms the Swiss cache, but Dover appears repeatedly in compiled Tennessee treasure guides.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
