Description
Blue Lake near Baldwin legend of gold coin pouches lost through thin ice — including a 1920s commercial fisherman who spilled $500 in coins from his bib overalls through a fish-house floor.
Historical Notes
Blue Lake east of Baldwin was named for French trapper Bleau; Bastion (Walker) Lake once connected via a channel or dam. Oral histories describe a man breaking through ice at a narrow crossing and losing a coin pouch in muddy shallows.
