Guadalupe River Horseshoe

Elevation: 0 ft
Description
Famous Canyon Lake horseshoe bend on the Guadalupe River — cold dam-release water, tubing loop, gravel-bar swimming, and riffles below the dam.
Historical Notes
The Guadalupe River Horseshoe is the celebrated bend in the Guadalupe immediately below Canyon Lake Dam — one of the most popular tubing and swimming reaches in the Texas Hill Country. Cold water from the dam feeds a horseshoe-shaped float that locals and outfitters have used for generations. The upper half is a leisurely glide; the lower half picks up shallow riffles over limestone river rock — ideal for wading, lunch stops, and summer swimming when flow permits. Outfitters such as Shanty Tubes on FM 306 rent tubes and run shuttles on the loop; check GBRA river flow below Canyon Lake Dam before visiting. Coordinates mark the horseshoe bend on the Guadalupe River at 29.864502° N, 98.163228° W in the Canyon Lake / Sattler area of Comal County.
