Sidney legend of four hundred pounds of gold nuggets from a stagecoach robbery buried east of town — a Overland Trail hoard in Cheyenne County.
Historical Notes
Sidney served as a major stagecoach and railroad hub on the western Nebraska plains. Compiled guides describe four hundred pounds of gold nuggets from a stage robbery concealed a few miles east of Sidney. The cache has never been reported found and pairs with a separate Sidney gold-bar tradition in the same county.
