Hamilton Pool Preserve

Water Locations TX • Travis County County
Coordinates: 30.3423, -98.1268
Elevation: 0 ft
Description
Travis County preserve where Hamilton Creek drops 50 feet into a collapsed-grotto pool — one of the most photographed swimming holes in Texas.
Historical Notes
Thirty miles southwest of downtown Austin, Hamilton Creek pours over a limestone ledge into a steep canyon shaded by a cave overhang with a sandy beach at the far end of the natural pool. Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine lists Hamilton Pool among Texas's top swimming holes. Travis County limits daily visitation; reservations are required. Swimming may be closed after heavy rain or for habitat protection — always check Travis County Parks before driving out.
