Dinosaur Valley State Park — Paluxy River

Water Locations TX • Somervell County County
Coordinates: 32.1547, -97.2544
Elevation: 0 ft
Description
Glen Rose state park on the Paluxy River — wade among dinosaur trackways and swim in limestone-lined pools on the river bend.
Historical Notes
Dinosaur Valley State Park preserves sauropod and theropod trackways in the Paluxy Riverbed near Glen Rose. The same shallow, clear river that recorded Cretaceous footprints makes a fine summer swimming reach. TPWD Magazine lists the Paluxy River at Glen Rose among notable swimming holes beyond its Hill Country-heavy top ten. Expect families, tubers, and track-seekers sharing the water. River flow varies; tracks are best when water is low, while swimming improves after modest flow returns.
