Coordinates: 30.2639, -97.7706
Elevation: 0 ft
Description
Spring-fed Austin landmark — one of the finest urban swimming holes in Texas, fed by Main Barton Spring into the Colorado River corridor.
Historical Notes
Barton Springs Pool draws from Main Barton Spring, the fourth-largest spring in Texas, and has been a gathering place for Austinites for generations. Development upstream in Hays and Travis counties makes the pool's year-round 68–70°F water more remarkable than ever. Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine ranks Barton Springs among the top swimming holes in the state. The pool sits within Zilker Park on the Colorado River greenbelt. Reservations and fees apply for pool entry; check Austin Parks & Recreation for hours and drought restrictions.
