Golden Ghost Town Buried Nuggets

Lost Treasure OR • Josephine County County
Description
Southern Oregon legend of fifty thousand dollars in gold nuggets buried within three hundred yards of the ghost town of Golden — one of the best-preserved Oregon mining camps.
Historical Notes
Golden flourished as a placer camp in the 1890s–1900s along Coyote Creek in the Illinois River country. Compiled Oregon treasure lore reports a miner's substantial nugget cache concealed near the townsite and never recovered. The story pairs with Karl Meyer and China Bar legends in the remote Josephine–Jackson mining belt.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
