Wimberley Stage Robbery Loot — Hays County

Lost Treasure TX • Hays County County
Description
Hill Country folklore southwest of Austin: outlaw loot from stage and freight robberies along the Blanco–San Marcos road allegedly cached near Wimberley and Cypress Creek in Hays County.
Historical Notes
Wimberley developed as a mill and ranching community on Cypress Creek in western Hays County, on routes connecting Austin to San Marcos and the Blanco River country. Post–Civil War banditry and cattle-rustling were common in the Hill Country. Regional treasure guides describe unrecovered stagecoach strongboxes and robbery proceeds buried in creek bottoms and limestone hills between Austin and Wimberley — overlapping Sam Bass–era timelines but without the specific documentation of the Round Rock or McNeil tales. Coordinates approximate Wimberley. Much of Cypress Creek corridor is private ranch land and residential development.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
