Warren County 1928 Train Robbery Loot

Lost Treasure IN • Warren County County
Description
1928 Warren County legend of four bandits taking $80,000 in gold bullion, currency, and coins from a passenger train near the Illinois state line — hanged four days later without revealing the stash.
Historical Notes
Indiana Traveler places the 1928 holdup hoard near Marshfield by the Illinois border in Warren County. The four robbers were captured and hanged within days but never disclosed where the bullion and currency were hidden. Western Indiana's rail lines toward Chicago made train-payroll legends common in compiled treasure lists.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
