Wallace-Kellogg Bank Robbery Cache

Lost Treasure ID • Shoshone County County
Description
Circa 1900 Silver Valley legend of bandits burying about $80,000 from a Wallace-Kellogg bank robbery somewhere in the four-mile stretch between Huettner and Post Falls before capture and hanging.
Historical Notes
After the holdup the robbers hid overnight and cached the loot between Huettner and Post Falls along the North Idaho corridor. A morning posse captured them, but authorities never found the buried money; the bandits were presumably hanged without disclosure. The tale belongs to the Coeur d'Alene mining district's rough early-twentieth-century outlaw lore.
