Troy Stage Robbery Loot

Lost Treasure TX • Bell County County
Description
Troy on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad northeast of Temple — 19th-century holdup lore describing buried strongboxes along the rail line toward Waco.
Historical Notes
Troy grew as a MKT railroad town northeast of Temple in eastern Bell County. Rail payroll robberies were a staple of Texas outlaw folklore in the 1870s–1880s, overlapping the Sam Bass era in nearby McLennan County. Regional compilations place unrecovered robbery loot along Bell County rail stops between Temple and Waco. Troy's cotton-gin and depot history marks it as a local search area in oral tradition. Coordinates approximate downtown Troy. Private property throughout.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
