Tiger Lake Family Caches — Calhoun County

Lost Treasure TX • Calhoun County County
Description
Calhoun County legend of numerous family wealth caches buried near Tiger Lake — a coastal prairie lake inland from Matagorda Bay.
Historical Notes
Tiger Lake sits in the Calhoun County coastal prairie between Port Lavaca and the bay. Nineteenth-century ranch families and Indianola merchants reportedly hid valuables inland away from hurricanes and port raids. The Rocker Box Calhoun County compilation cites multiple separate family caches near Tiger Lake rather than a single pirate hoard. Hurricane flooding and shoreline change may have shifted markers. Coordinates mark Tiger Lake in central Calhoun County. Private ranch land dominates the area.
