Historical Notes
Thorndale sits in Milam County where the International & Great Northern crossed the San Antonio Road. Guidebook lore cited by The Rocker Box describes nine burro loads of gold hidden near the town. Spanish and Mexican pack-train bullion tales are common along the Camino Real. Thorndale appears in Central Texas compilations between Cameron and Rockdale in the Little Brazos watershed.
