Sun shading (lidar)

Adjust simulated sun direction on the lidar hillshade. Azimuth = compass bearing of the light (0° north, 90° east). Altitude = height above the horizon (low = long shadows).

Sullivan Mine — Shafter District

Gold Mining Site TX • Presidio County County
Description
The Sullivan Mine in the western Shafter Mining District produced more than 4,000 tons of low-grade lead-silver ore with gold byproduct — one of the larger satellite producers after the Presidio Mine.
Historical Notes
TSHA lists the Sullivan Mine in Section 107, Block 7, Houston and Texas Central Railway Survey as yielding more than 4,000 tons of low-grade lead-silver ore. That makes it among the more substantial small mines in the fifteen-prospect Shafter district. John W. Spencer's 1880 Chinati discovery and Col. William R. Shafter's development launched the district; satellite mines like Sullivan followed the Presidio Mine's success through the 1942 shutdown. Coordinates approximate the Sullivan Mine in western Presidio County.
