Description
Cowee Creek - The area around Franklin, north 6 miles, in the Cowee Valley, take Routes 23-141 north for 3 miles, turn northwest on Route 28 about 4 miles into sign posted mining district, and up Cowee Creek past the Cowee Baptist Church, many area mines for gemstones (a fee is charged to collectors at most mines), on dumps of these mines you can find gold bearing minerals, often collectors' specimens.
