Stillhouse Hollow Lake Outlaw Cache

Lost Treasure TX • Bell County County
Description
Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir on the Lampasas River west of Belton — post–Civil War legend of outlaw loot buried in bluffs now partly flooded by the Army Corps lake.
Historical Notes
Stillhouse Hollow Dam (1968) impounded the Lampasas River in western Bell County, creating a 6,400-acre reservoir popular with Temple and Killeen boaters. The lake submerged farms, crossings, and creek bottoms that saw Reconstruction-era banditry. Central Texas treasure guides include Lampasas River bluff caches west of Belton — some now underwater or on Corps-managed shoreline. Searching submerged or park lands requires permits and is generally prohibited. Coordinates approximate Stillhouse Hollow Dam west of Temple.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
