St Francis Raid Coins Cow Brook Littleton

Lost Treasure NH • Grafton County County
Description
Grafton County legend of Rogers' Rangers dropping gold guineas from the 1759 St. Francis raid near where Cow Brook once entered the Connecticut River at Littleton — now beneath Moore Reservoir.
Historical Notes
Major Robert Rogers' 1759 raid on St. Francis in Quebec netted silver statues, rings, and thousands of gold guineas. Retreating rangers dropped plunder along the Connecticut River route; folklore places coins where Cow Brook met the river at Littleton. River course changes and Moore Reservoir now cover the landmark, but Grafton County guides still cite the coin burial.
