Historical Notes
Burnet County's earliest churches were Mormon, Christian, Baptist, Methodist, and Church of Christ congregations in the 1850s. A Catholic church was established in Burnet in 1930 as the county's population grew with railroad commerce and later Buchanan Dam construction. An African Methodist Episcopal church was established in Burnet in 1953, reflecting the county's slowly diversifying postwar community.
