Southeast Caldwell Silver Mine Shaft

Lost Treasure TX • Caldwell County County
Description
Caldwell County legend of a mine shaft containing forty-three silver bars in southeast Caldwell County — between Luling and the Gonzales County line.
Historical Notes
Caldwell County sits on the coastal plain east of San Marcos along the San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers. The Rocker Box Caldwell County compilation describes a shaft with forty-three silver bars in the southeastern part of the county. Oil booms later made Luling famous, but earlier folklore tied the county to Spanish silver and Republic-era mining tales. No authenticated shaft recovery is documented. Coordinates approximate southeast Caldwell County ranch country east of Luling.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
