Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Jefferson County page describes five chests of pirate treasure supposedly buried near Shell Ridge. Shell Ridge is a topographic feature in the Hamshire–Fannett prairie country southwest of Beaumont, where shell banks marked old Gulf shorelines. Southeast Texas guidebooks link Shell Ridge to Lafitte-era smugglers moving contraband between Galveston Island, Sabine Pass, and inland bayous. No authenticated recovery is documented. Coordinates approximate Shell Ridge in western Jefferson County southwest of Beaumont.
