Description
Legend of a Spanish mission wagon train attacked at Secret Pass; surviving nuns said priests concealed chalices, crosses, and gold church plate in a cave before the massacre.
Historical Notes
A wagon train of Spanish priests en route from Mexico to California was attacked by Indians near Secret Pass in western Arizona. Before the massacre, treasure including gold religious items was hidden in a cave. Only two nuns survived to tell the tale. Secret Pass lies in the Black Mountains / Oatman area of Mohave County along historic travel routes.
