Historical Notes
San Ygnacio is a National Register historic district on the Rio Grande in Zapata County. TreasureNet threads from South Texas detectorists describe Villa crossing the river near San Ygnacio and caching bullion near a chapel and the old town site. The Rocker Box Starr County list also places a $1,500,000 Villa cache near Roma downstream. San Ygnacio's tale is a separate upstream variant in the Laredo–Zapata corridor. Falcon Dam and river channel changes altered many old landing sites. Coordinates mark San Ygnacio on the Rio Grande in Zapata County southeast of Laredo.
