Salt Fork Brazos Incan Treasure — Stonewall County

Lost Treasure TX • Stonewall County County
Description
Stonewall County legend of Incan treasure buried near the Salt Fork of the Brazos River northwest of Abilene — one of several precious-metal tales in the county's Rocker Box compilation.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Stonewall County page cites Incan treasure buried near the Salt Fork of the Brazos River. The Salt Fork drains the southern Panhandle and Rolling Plains through Stonewall and adjacent counties. Incan and Aztec hoard stories migrated across the Southwest with nineteenth-century treasure guidebooks. The same Stonewall County source also lists Aztec treasure near Aspermont and the Double Mountains — distinct named variants. Coordinates approximate the Salt Fork of the Brazos in western Stonewall County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
