Salado Creek Buried Coin Bags — Prairie Dell

Lost Treasure TX • Bell County County
Description
Bell County folklore of four bags of coins buried along Salado Creek between Salado and Prairie Dell — reinforced by a 1930s find of a $20 gold piece exposed in creek-bank mud.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Bell County page cites guidebook legend of four bags of coins buried along Salado Creek, separate from the Golden Bull cave tales. A reader reported his mother found a $20 gold piece in creek mud near Prairie Dell in the early 1930s while playing on the bank. Prairie Dell sits between Salado and Temple on the historic stage road through Bell County. The 1965 Golden Bull dig and 1933 Lost Treasure magazine articles placed major searches in this same Salado Creek corridor. Coordinates approximate the Salado–Prairie Dell stretch of Salado Creek. Private farmland and creek banks — no unauthorized digging.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
