Robber's Gulch Freight Wagon Gold — White Bird

Lost Treasure ID • Idaho County County
Description
Salmon River legend of outlaws robbing a freight wagon of about $75,000 in miners' gold near Robber's Gulch southwest of White Bird — the bandits were killed in the Seven Devils without revealing the cache.
Historical Notes
More than a century ago outlaws waylaid a freight wagon along the Salmon River, hid roughly $75,000 in gold among the rocks, and fled toward the rough Seven Devils range. A posse caught and killed every robber before learning where the loot was hidden. Robber's Gulch southwest of White Bird remains named for the holdup in Idaho County folklore.
