Renegade Indian Treasure NW of Amidon — Slope County

Lost Treasure ND • Slope County County
Description
Slope County legend of treasure buried by renegade Indians northwest of Amidon — a companion northwest-of-Amidon cache story distinct from the stolen Army payroll tale.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Slope County list adds that a treasure buried by renegade Indians is said to lie northwest of Amidon, citing Buried Treasures You Can Find. Late-nineteenth-century newspapers often blamed unexplained caches on "renegade" Lakota or Metis parties fleeing army patrols across the southwest corner of Dakota Territory. Coordinates shift slightly northwest of the Army payroll pin to mark a separate search country. Legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
