The 1960 Robert J. Caire and Bert Thatcher Buried Treasure Map of Louisiana marks fifty-six sites from pirates, thieves, and shipwrecks. One entry attributes 3,000 Charles IV doubloons near Ruston to Quantrill's Raiders. William Quantrill led Confederate guerrillas in Missouri and Kansas; Louisiana map folklore links his name to north Louisiana hill country. No authenticated recovery is documented.
