Powder River Road Agent Payroll Caches

Lost Treasure WY • Carbon County County
Description
Carbon County legend of Sim Jan gang payroll and stage loot cached along the Powder River–Union Pacific corridor between Rawlins and Casper — road agents who preyed on cash shipments before the Medicine Bow murders.
Historical Notes
Led by Sim Jan, the gang included Big Nose George, Frank McKinney, Joe Manuse, and others who robbed pay wagons and stages in Wyoming's southern railroad country. Parrot boasted of the crimes in Miles City, Montana, leading to his 1880 extradition and the Carbon County vigilante lynchings. Treasure writers speculate Frank McKinney and Sim Jan escaped with unrecovered loot when the gang split after Rattlesnake Canyon.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
