Description
Southwest Kansas legend of outlaw plunder hidden at Point of Rocks northwest of Elkhart — a landmark bluff on the Cimarron cutoff of the Santa Fe Trail.
Historical Notes
Point of Rocks in Morton County rises above the flat prairie near Elkhart along historic trail routes into the Oklahoma Panhandle. Legends of America lists bandit loot concealed at the rock formation and never recovered. The site served travelers on the Cimarron branch of the Santa Fe Trail. Erosion and private ranchland complicate modern searches, but the bluff remains a named landmark in Kansas treasure guides.
