Description
Early school in the Pittsburg settlement across the Blanco River from present Blanco town; log cabin school withstood Indian raids.
Historical Notes
Pioneer stockmen built cabins along the Blanco River in 1853; a log schoolhouse doubled as a defensive structure. Pittsburg was laid out across the river before Blanco became county seat. Daniel Rawls organized a Methodist church and school in the 1854 era; foundation of Blanco County education.
