Pirate Sandy Gordon White Island Booty

Lost Treasure NH • Rockingham County County
Description
Isles of Shoals legend of pirate Sandy Gordon burying a considerable plunder cache on White Island between 1715 and 1718 — where an 1867 fisherman reportedly dug up gold bullion and coins.
Historical Notes
White Island lighthouse marks the southern end of the Isles of Shoals ten miles off Portsmouth. Compiled Atlantic Coast guides credit Sandy Gordon with concealing pirate plunder on the island in the early eighteenth century. An 1867 discovery of roughly one hundred pounds of gold bullion and mixed coins fueled belief that more Gordon loot remains on White Island.
