Pease Park — Austin

Historic Park TX • Travis County County
Description
Oldest public park in Austin, donated by Governor E.M. Pease and his wife in 1875 along Shoal Creek north of downtown.
Historical Notes
Governor Elisha Marshall Pease and Lucadia Christiana Niles Pease gave 23 acres to the City of Austin in 1875, establishing the city's first dedicated park. Shoal Creek picnic grounds, trails, and the Tudor Cottage (1928) reflect successive generations of park planning. The 1920s–1930s saw stone bridges, walls, and picnic facilities added. Pease Park remains a central green corridor connecting downtown to north Austin neighborhoods.
