Description
Historic Mason school building renamed the Historical Building; has housed the county library, museum, and county offices after classroom use ended.
Historical Notes
Early Mason schools were taught by William Poffard at W.C. Lewis's home and by Mrs. Lizzie McGuire in the Mason House hotel. The Old Grammar School later became the county historical building. In 1946 all rural Mason County schools consolidated with Mason ISD, ending the era of Art, Hilda, Koockville, Hedwigs Hill, and other district schools.
