Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Zavala County compilation describes several millions in gold and silver from a massacred Mexican wagon train buried near Crystal City. The Nueces flows southeast from the Edwards Plateau through Zavala and Dimmit counties before turning northeast through McMullen County. Crystal City is the Zavala County seat and center of the spinach belt. Wagon-train massacre tales appear throughout Guide to Treasure in Texas for the Trans-Nueces and Winter Garden corridors. Coordinates mark Crystal City on the Nueces River plain in Zavala County.
