Northwest Reeves Lost Mexican Gold Mine

Lost Treasure TX • Reeves County County
Description
Reeves County legend of a lost Mexican gold mine in the northwestern portion of the county on the Trans-Pecos fringe between the Pecos River corridor and the Guadalupe Mountains.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Reeves County compilation cites a lost Mexican gold mine in the northwestern part of the county. Spanish and Mexican mining lore permeates the Pecos–Guadalupe divide, though few Trans-Pecos diggings produced commercial gold. Northwest Reeves County drains toward the Delaware River country and the Texas–New Mexico line. Freighters traveling between Fort Stockton, Pecos City, and El Paso passed near this empty range. Coordinates approximate northwest Reeves County ranch country. Specific mine location unpublished in available sources.
