Nicholas LePetomaine Eden Park Cache

Lost Treasure OH • Hamilton County County
Description
Cincinnati legend of river pirate Nicholas LePetomaine — "Fat Nicholas" — burying loot in Eden Park overlooking the Ohio River bluffs above downtown.
Historical Notes
Nineteenth-century Cincinnati folklore names LePetomaine as a rotund Ohio River pirate who preyed on flatboat commerce. Compiled guides place one or more caches in Eden Park on the city's east-side bluffs above the river. The tale pairs Hamilton County river-pirate traditions with the same parkland that later became a civic landmark.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
