Newton Gang Loot — Bexar County

Lost Treasure TX • Bexar County County
Description
The Newton Boys — notorious early-1900s Texas bank and train robbers — reportedly buried portions of their loot in the San Antonio area. Some caches may never have been recovered.
Historical Notes
Brothers Willis, Joe, Jess, and Dock Newton committed dozens of robberies across the Midwest and Texas in the 1920s, stealing millions. They were finally caught after a botched train robbery in Illinois in 1927. Legends of America and Texas outlaw folklore hold that portions of Newton Gang loot were hidden in Bexar County near San Antonio. The brothers themselves gave varying accounts under interrogation; much of their take was never accounted for. Coordinates approximate the San Antonio area. Specific burial sites are unverified.
