Natchez Under-the-Hill Pirate Loot

Lost Treasure MS • Adams County County
Description
Natchez riverfront under-the-hill district — once one of the wickedest ports on the Mississippi, long associated with pirate caches, smugglers, and buried loot in the bluffs.
Historical Notes
Natchez-Under-the-Hill was a violent river port beneath the bluffs where gamblers, smugglers, and pirates mingled with flatboat men. Legends of America links the Natchez Trace corridor to hidden pirate loot and Civil War caches; Under-the-Hill ghost stories often overlap with tales of gold never recovered from the waterfront caves and landing cellars.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
