Myatt Landing Ouachita River Merchant Specie — Ouachita Parish

Lost Treasure LA • Ouachita Parish County
Description
Southern Ouachita Parish legend of river-landing merchant specie near Myatt — a vanished steamboat stop and plantation landing on the Ouachita River below Monroe.
Historical Notes
Myatt is recorded as an Ouachita Parish ghost town at 32.4104253° N, 92.1498581° W — a former river landing and community south of Monroe along the Ouachita River. Before railroads dominated, steamboat landings like Myatt, Trenton, and Point Pleasant moved cotton and timber payrolls through the parish. Landing folklore imagines merchant strongboxes buried when snags, floods, or rail competition closed landings. Coordinates mark the historic Myatt landing area on the Ouachita River south of Monroe. River bottom and private land — legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
