Description
Gold and silver coins from Lee Musgrove's rustler gang, broken up by Colorado lawman Dave Cook in 1868 — said to remain buried along the Cache la Poudre River.
Historical Notes
The Musgrove Gang, led by Lee Musgrove, ranged from Texas to Wyoming, killing at least twelve people during raids. Colorado lawman Dave Cook tracked members down, killing or arresting them one by one. Musgrove was jailed in Denver and lynched by a mob on November 23, 1868. The gang's gold and silver coin hoard is said to remain buried along the Cache la Poudre River in Larimer County.
